Elettronica GmbH (ELT GmbH) was founded in 1978 in Meckenheim (close to Bonn) as a repair workshop and logistical hub for the Starfighter F104 Elettronica ELT 70/73 radar jammer of the German Air Force.

ELT GmbH developed into a prime contractor for ground based EW systems, in particular ground ELINT and ground HF-Jamming solutions on Rheinmetall FUCHS armoured vehicles. This allowed the Group to make its contribution to enabling the German army to conduct electronic warfare with reconnaissance (→ KWS RMB, EloAW) and HF jamming capabilities (→ KWS HORNISSE, EloGMKdo).

ELT GmbH expanded its EW skills by means of manufacturing electromechanical parts of the Eurofighter EuroDass self-protection system and NH90 Dete90 ESM system for the maritime NFH version. Both programmes are based on ELTGroup design authority and co-financed by the Germany Government.

In 2009, ELT GmbH successfully entered the Public Security market, expanding the product portfolio through the provision of mobile systems for video surveillance and C2 (→ BeDoKw, LeBefKw) as well as undercover investigation for criminal prevention. In 2014, ELT GmbH was commissioned to develop, provide and support a state-of-the-art EW Simulator for the German Navy (→ WTD 71), which led to the investment into a comprehensive product portfolio for the Test & Evaluation (T&E) of Radar/EW/CNS systems. After several contracts for T&E in laboratory, hardware-in-the-loop and open-field (→ LCTE and decoys), in 2019, ELT GmbH was commissioned to redevelop the NATO JEWCS land and sea-based test and validation systems. ELT GmbH is EN9100 certified since 2015.

Today, ELT GmbH is part of ELTGroup and represents the Group in Germany. Besides its own portfolio based on key competencies which include: the design, development and operational support of RF-based systems (in laboratory, classroom and open-field) for the test & evaluation (T&E) and training of Radar, EW (Electronic Warfare) and CNS (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) electronic devices; the design, development and user support of a software-defined EMSO simulation & modelling (S&M) environment for the validation of effectiveness of Digital Twins, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) devices as well as Systems-of-Systems (SoS) solutions; the electromechanical manufacturing, assembly, test and repair of avionic EW sensors (EFA/NH90); the integration and maintenance of EW sensors on military platforms (armoured vehicles, cabinets and containers) for strategic, tactical and operational missions (KWS RMB, KWS HORNISSE, EloAW, EloGMKdo); the technical logistic support for EW equipment on navy fregates around the world; the development, manufacturing and integration of mobile video/acoustic surveillance as well as command and control solutions for public security needs; ELTGroup Deutschland promotes and provides local support for the ELTGroup-wide EMSO portfolio in Germany. For that purpose, in 2023 ELTGroup Deutschland opened its representation office in Berlin.
